Perfect upgrade for an aging workstation
Great controller. It was a perfect drop-in addition to my aging HP z600 workstation, allowing it to boot from attached drives with only minor configuration changes in the BIOS, and making it possible to use SATAIII drives at full rated speeds instead of the on-board SATAII controller.
If you plan on doing this upgrade to a similar system and wish to use the built-in sata backplane for the tool-less drive cage, please note that you will need SAS to SATA cables and a couple SATA gender adapters.

Good cables, highly recommended
Beautiful 2.8mm sleeved cables look excellent in custom systems, kit comes with ample connections for almost any configuration even including 4way sli.

The Core 2 Q9000 is an exelent processor
PROS:
-2.0 ghz quad core, a perfect upgrade from any dual Core 2 Penryn processor
-1066mhz FSB speed allows for super fast memory transfers with 1066mhz PC8500 DDR3 memory
-Large 6mb L2, double that of most Core 2 Duo processors
-Generally cool running
-**Fewer "Engineering Samples" for this processor available (ES processors with a 4 letter SSPEC number such as QAVK)((see note at bottom))
CONS:
-Processor was released in Q1 of 2009 making it obsolete when compared to the newer Intel Core processors available
-No Intel Turbo Boost
**Note: Engineering Sample processors are very likely to be unstable and some even having features locked on them that are available in the commercially available models. Allot of ES models have also gone through extreme stress testing that can cause many errors and glitches that may not be immediately noticeable and others may not work at all. ES model processors can also potentially damage your computer.
