Youth Dew Fragrance has Changed
Youth Dew by Estee Lauder has been around for a long time, at least 60 years. The original fragrance was a warm floral fragrance with a woodsy base note. It was a complex fragrance that lingered in the air and made you smile when you caught a whiff of it from a woman passing by. It was a unique fragrance like no other. Much to my disappointment, what was in this bottle bore no resemblance to the original Youth Dew fragrance I remember from decades ago. The packaging is the same but the fragrance bares no resemblance to the original Youth Dew. As a matter of fact it reminded me of bug spray. Yes it was that awful. I wondered if perhaps I had gotten a bad batch so I went to Macy's to take a whiff and it was the same awful smell, just like the smell in my bottle. So buyer beware, if you desire the vintage Youth Dew fragrance of decades ago, then purchase a bottle described as Vintage Youth Dew. The current formulation really misses the olfactory mark.
