Mr Ratty removal

Noticed that a large and handsome rat had taken over an old hole vacated by Mr Mole under a bird feeder in my garden. Rather than extirpate the beast, I thought that I'd try catching him alive, so bought this trap. Watched him ignoring the baited cage for a few days, so closed it leaving it in place and left the bird feeder unfilled for a week to lessen the availability of food. The trap was subsequently reset, he then took the bait (Nutella with bird seed) and I rehomed him a couple of miles away in some woods. The trap seems well enough made and will be kept in case it is required in the future. If you do catch a live animal then cover the cage when you transport it, that will help to cut the level of distress shown by the animal. And remember to wear gloves just in case you make the mistake of putting your finger too near a trapped animal, I used motorcycle gloves, but thick gardening gloves, or similar, should do. Wash your hands afterwards too...Weils disease is always a possibility.

Good mask for carpentry & joinery

So far the mask has only been worn for short periods of time while machining timber and it has worked well. Therefore, it is too early to give it 5 stars, as the comfort while wearing for extended periods has not been tested.
