Heartless
The frustration I felt while reading Mary Dolor's book 'Throes: A Transformative Parable', left a knot of contempt in the pit of my stomach.
Although the author expressed her ability to differentiate the addicted (her daughter) and the addiction (the beast), her calculated claim of understanding quickly becomes contradictive.
The rooms of Alnon are meant to help the families of those battling the " Beast of addiction" find support, advice, and, most importantly, understanding. Understanding...
that their's a fine line between 'enabling' and 'supporting'.
Understanding that "Tough love" requires a hardened heart, not a cold one.
Understanding that abandonment is not a form of "Loving from a distance", and that the throes of watching a loved one battle the beast of addiction, is un-measurable to that of those who fight it.
Alnon meetings generally consist of two types of people. Their are those who come seeking guidance to help the addict who is the victim of the beast, and those who come seeking a an audience, as they play victim to the addict.
The cover of Mary Dolor's book acted as a selfish invitation for the reader to attend her own personal pity-party, thrown at her daughters expense.
For those of you who found this book a strengthening story of self-healing, I'd like to remind you that their are two sides to every throe.

Beautiful
Very nice set. Bed had pre-drilled holes slightly off, and platform braces could be better desgined with more sturdy platform panels (screws strip out), but otherwise very nice and seems pretty sturdy. My irks are minor, as I enjoy the set.
