Never Functioned properly

This recorder ate the tapes. I cleaned the head and rollers and tried another tape. We then reated this careful process until we ruined 7 cassette tapes. We did have insurance which we paid for and were reimbursed. We then purchased Sony digital recorders that were sealed and brand new and we have not had a problem since.
