Tape and Card HDV recording
3 of 3 found this helpful This is one of the last Prosumer type, fixed lens, tape based cameras available. It records HDV to mini DV tape and comes without the card recorder but that can be purchased separately and recommended for card recording option. HDV format is an older format but still has it's place. This camera records to tape for easy storage and back up or to the MRC-1unit that was made specifically for this camera to record to compact flash card. Having the option to record both ways is important if the application requires one or the other. It is extremely good in low light but must be manually controlled or the gain has a mind of its own and footage can look super grainy in a low light environment. Overall with the access of cheap tape and as long as the availability to buy tape is around this older camera is a work horse and if HDV format can be used for your application this camera is a great option. I have two of them and use both tape and card for all types of events.

Super solid construction
From the picture it is difficult to see the actual size of this ball head but it is a serious all metal full size solid ball head. I shopped and compared and for the price this is an amazing value. I bought 2 of them for matching feet based mono pods and the quick release feature is a bonus. Last, I like that it has a handle for the ball adjustment instead of the new popular round knobs. When I first tested adjustment of the ball it was a little stiff which is good to a point but the ball easily loosened up after moving it around a few times. Very happy with this purchase.

Forget Pre-owned...Fair price for a NEW Transformer
This Malibu transformer is built well and will endure outside exposure to changing temperatures. It has a time clock and the easy to set menu has multiple selections for almost any desired setting of lighting....
I am replacing the one I had that worked well for over 10 years. Easy switch over. Same set up.
