Range is limited to about 5 miles with supplied aerial
Sound quality is good
However it has several problems that need to be sorted out before you can use it in UK
This scanner is programmed for use on the USA market so needs reprogramming before it can be used in UK
It comes with no instruction booklet, but has a useless CD which doesn't work
Fortunately there are several good Utube videos which show you the basics for reprogramming the scanner
There are also loads of internet instruction if you have the time to browse for them
It took me over 4hrs to set the scanner up as I wanted it
Once set up it is a excellent piece of kit and by changing the aerial to a 10watt booster I can now get up to 20 miles on marine frequencies
I would recommend this scanner provided you want to spend a bit of time reprogramming it'
