A unique and wholly original Sonic game that combines elements of platforming with racing with a catchy soundtrack!
Many people hate this game and describe it as "bad," but I believe Sonic R is the best racing games ever made and easily one of my favorite Sonic the Hedgehog games. What makes Sonic R unique is that the gameplay is completely original. It combines two different genres together: platformer and racing game. Unlike other games, like Mario Kart, the characters in Sonic R race on foot and can jump, fly, glide, etc. It is fairly easy to simply race to the finish and beat the game, but the true fun of Sonic R is that the level design is variable. Each course is like am maze, with multiple branching paths, with shortcuts and mysteries to explore. There are hidden characters to unlike and bonus items (like Chaos Emeralds) to find. The only flaw is that the game is too short with only 5 levels. But because each level contains so much exploration and different paths, it allows the game to have a great amount of replay value. Plus, the music is so fun and uplifting that it gets stuck in your head! Overall, Sonic R is an incredible game that gets unfairly hated on because most people simply did not understand its unique mix of platforming and racing.

Nights Into Dreams is a surreal magical flying experience unlike any other game ever made! A true masterpiece!
Nights Into Dreams is, simply put, a masterpiece. Initially, the game is a bit confusing. The main character is a genderless magical flying court-jester thingie? You fly around collecting blue balls of energy? But once you accept the surreal elements, the game starts to make sense. Think of it like a trippy dream. It is beautiful and compelling. Frankly, Nights is addicting. The experience of flying through loops, collecting items, trying to beat the high score, etc. are all magical. This game is so unique that there has never been anything else quite like it. Yuji Naka (creator of Sonic the Hedgehog) has really outdone himself on this one. It is easily one of the best games on the Sega Saturn.

Dreamcast is a tragic end of an era for Sega fans, but it remains an incredible system that should have been more popular and was ahead of its time.
4 of 4 found this helpful Dreamcast is Sega's swan song. It is a truly tragic story with a heartbreaking end for Sega fans. When Dreamcast was cancelled, I never bought another video game console. Without Sega hardware, I simply was not interested. Sega was always an innovative game developer, pushing the boundaries with their hardware. Although many critics mocked them, the truth is that Sega's consoles were always ahead of their time. Such is the case with Dreamcast. The first console to feature online gaming. Virtual memory cards. Enhanced 128-bit graphics. Dreamcast specialized in action-packed arcade style games. The console should have been successful and put Sega back on top. Sadly, this was not the case. It was discontinued way too quickly. Hence, Dreamcast is a tragic story. We are left to wonder "what could have been?" In its short 2 year lifespan, Dreamcast released a number of incredible games, such as Sonic Adventure, Soul Caliber, Power Stone, House of the Dead, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, Ecco the Dolphin, Crazy Taxi, Samba De Amigo, Space Channel 5, Jet Set Radio, Grandia 2, and Chu-Chu Rocket.
