So Far So Good

I purchased the Casio Solar Black & Gold because it is easy to read, will not require a battery change, has adequate water resistance and does not have a weighty metal bracelet. After 3 weeks I can say it certainly excels in each of those criteria, if you ignore the date feature, which is too small for my old eyes to read I was in the market for a second watch, because my Seiko 5 automatic had over the years gone from gaining an acceptable 4-8 seconds per day, to 20-30 seconds per day. I wanted a backup,in case my attempt to recalibrate the 5 was unsuccessful. . Right now I am wearing both. I must say that the Casio is noticeably more comfortable. Besides the useless date feature, my only other complainst are that the crystal is rather reflective, making it difficult to tell time in the glare of sunlight and the night time glow is rather minimal. The Lumibrite on my 6 year old Seiko (a $100 watch) is what I rely on when I wake up in the middle of the night and want to know what time it is. If the watch holds up to rough use, it will have been a steal. Time will tell. .
