    Totally worth it
Perfect drive for my new server. And a great cheap alternative to the 600GB model or the newer generation drives. A little noisy in most environments, but you can barely hear them with the server turned on. Interestingly, these drives even have the old activity indicator light integrated to the controller PCB, just like the classic SCSI version!

Pretty much what I expected, but with some design flaws
Let's start with form factor; slightly larger than most phones width-wise due to the conformity to the 16:9 aspect ratio with a full-HD screen, and a few millimeters bigger than the J7 2018 I also like, but most notable about this model, the A7 2017, is the weight-- only 6.5 ounces, while the J7 2018 weighs about 8 or 9 ounces... (Other phones can weigh up to almost a pound!) Next, I enjoy the new USB-C port which, although only geared for USB 2.0 signals, is highly compatible and allows the connection of almost all major USB devices for computers; keyboards, mice, (yes mice actually work on this phone!) flash drives, (but not hard drives, there is no support for NTFS yet) and apparently there are even HDMI and Ethernet adapters available for phones like this! Then we have the screen, which turned out to be much clearer and crisper than I expected! It is worth noting however that some images may appear too vivid or somewhat dull, depending on your display settings. As for sound, well... It's a phone, what do you expect? Pretty good-ish, very average sound. Now to networking... Good compatibility with dual-band 5GHz WiFi, but slightly older communication chipset limits the top bitrate to 433Mbps, while newer devices will have 867Mbps. Also, if you're a LAN/SMB file transfer gearhead like me, you should know that the top transfer speed is very much Base-TX, but with a boost; downloads up to 24-31MB/s, and uploads from 7-18MB/s. Average available transfer speed is around 10MB/s. Top speeds can be achieved through external internet activity and internal use of this device as a FTP server on local networks. If you want higher SMB speeds, (20-34MB/s symmetrical) go for the J7 2018 Refine or Star models. Programmability: easy to flash the preferred system image using tools such as Odin 3.13, provided you have a working knowledge of software/hardware system maintenance. Like with other Samsung phones, you can import/export your apps and settings through the use of Smart Switch, either between phones or by using the PC variant of the program. Tends to get very warm when under large loads either CPU or network, but for tech enthusiasts, I suppose this is how you know your phone is doing work... (*I know it sounds odd, maybe it's because I spent too many years running my operation on a Pentium-4 CPU Lol :p*) Really don't like that my unit was sent from China, and that the box and manual are in Chinese (even the warranty card!) but at least the phone itself works fine in English. I also find it suspicious that the inscriptions on the bottom of the back side are inconsistent with what other A7 units have, but quality-wise the device is the same either way. Also doesn't have the IMEI numbers on the back, nor did it come with a sticker like it should have, but they were easy enough to find in settings. The glass feels very glossy and almost like plastic, but based on the break patterns I've seen on the A7 other people have, I think it's safe to say this is for real. And glossy isn't necessarily a bad thing-- in fact it may make using the screen easier for some people than the other glass screens are. My recommendation: unless you're prepared to spend many days and lots of money looking for a certifiable 100% real A7 2017, and all you want is the phone at a good price, get it from aliexpress. They're basically the same thing. Overall it's a great phone. And if you're planning to use it on one of T-Mobile's networks, or especially AT&T, you'll love it. WARNING; THE SCREEN BREAKS INSANELY EASILY! Unless you plan to buy a dozen replacement screen assemblies and learn how to replace it yourself properly (or hire an expensive professional) it's SO NOT WORTH IT!

    Impressive fit!
I run a 2U server with a very strange layout, and I needed something big enough to cool the powerful CPU, but also small enough to fit under the single-slot GPU on the riser... and this fits perfectly! There's almost exactly a millimeter (1mm) of space between the GPU and this CPU heatsink. AND the open fins allow some airflow to reach the GPU's fan without choking it, so nothing will ever overheat this way! For best results, I used an IC Graphite thermal pad with this to help cool the processor. The combination shows promising results in system temperature readouts. I also made a sort of air shroud out of packing tape to direct more air through the fins to aid cooling performance, as seen in the attached images (and it woks great). This is obviously a vapor chamber base with skived fins made to a specific height-- fairly basic, but perfect for the job inside a server. I don't think I've ever seen tolerances this tight before! Except for the lousy stock thermal paste pre-applied to the base, this heatsink is totally worth it! And yes, it really IS 1.5U in size (about 45mm).
