Learn from my experiance at AT&T
2 of 2 found this helpful You can avoid paying the monthly modem fees at AT&T by purchasing a used modem. Here is how it should be done to avoid all the hassle and errors I made. The sales people never know what modem is compatible since AT&T modems are always changing and different areas in the country use different models. 1. Activate the service by using the modem that AT&T ships for free. 2. Once that modem arrives and you are up and running, go to ebay and purchase the same model as what arrived asap. 3. Make sure the modem you are buying on ebay is no longer associated to an account. 4. Once the ebay modem arrives, and you are up and running, return the AT&T modem using your account number at the nearest UPS store free of charge. 5. Lastly call AT&T with the tracking number so they can remove the monthly modem rental fee. Keep in mind the AT&T modem they send you will be used and after 3 to 4 months your investment will have paid for itself!
