good unit
The good: Very cheap, decent screen, decent sound, small, light, reasonably sturdy, and cheap.
The bad: Mono speakers, limited play time from battery power, cannot charge while playing, not bullet proof, mono speaker, noisy motor.
Now for the verbose version...
Got this for the grandchild and it does just what we need it to do, it plays DVD movies wherever it is needed and doesn't get too loud. For the money, it isn't at all bad. After nearly two months of medium use, it is still working like new.
The battery can play one movie and have some left in reserve. We generally use it plugged in. It does not recharge while playing, it is either powering the player or recharging.
The sound from the speaker is loud enough, but of course lacks any bass. The treble is surprisingly good. Do note that it does not have stereo speakers, only a single speaker, though I doubt that anyone would notice.
The screen is bright enough for daytime use. Colors are decent, not washed out. The resolution is decent too; not the best, but I've seen much worse.
One minor annoyance is that the motor makes a noticeable noise. When searching a disk it is much louder, but when playing it is still audible. It is not terribly loud, but just loud enough to notice and possibly annoy. It doesn't bother us and the grandchild never noticed the sound.
When you lift the lid to remove a DVD, it is often still spinning. I don't know if this is normal for portable players, but I thought it a bit odd. It doesn't seem to be a big hazard, as it winds down reasonably fast, but thought it worth mentioning.
This is a cheap unit and you tend to get what you pay for. If you have low expectations you will not be disappointed
