Replacement Wireless Router for Frontier Communications Actiontec Wireless
1 of 1 found this helpful After some web research on wireless routers that can successfully run a VPN client configuration, I came across this particular model in that it wasn't overly expensive had the hardware guts to handle the load (2 processors) of handling encryption / decryption tasks while natively supporting onboard VPN client configuration out of the box with ASUS-WRT. Depending on which VPN provider you go with (I'm using PIA), configuration can take some doing but the fact that this device supports it off the shelf is great. Asus' admin interface is fantastic and feature rich. There is also the option of flashing to more advanced Merlin firmware which is based on ASUS-WRT so current settings are preserved, etc when upgrading / reverting. Performance-wise this thing is WAAAAAAY better than the Actiontec MoCA combo wireless router and turning it on showed vast coverage and signal strength improvement. Very pleased with this device - I can easily stream VUDU, NetFlix, etc from my SmartTV and it does everything I ask it to do with little effort. We have at least 14 devices hitting this thing and it hasn't so much as blinked yet. Of course if you have a larger family with several iPads, gaming consoles, smart TVs, computers and the like, you may opt for a more powerful Asus router but for my wife and I's needs, it's perfect. This is a quality product for sure.

F.E.A.R. - 1st person shooter
A friend of mine said this game was alot of fun so I decided to get my own copy. This is a great game - if your system can take it, the experience is incredible! If you like first person shooters, this is a must have. Textures, sound effects and overall storyline are all what you would expect from a first rate game. This game has a cool cinematic that essentially rolls your system through a variety of scenes for the sole purpose of benchmarkihg overall performance. At the end, you see your FPS results and have the opportunity to tweak a number of advanced settings to get the best possible performace your rig will allow. It took me several runs before I got it right but man was it worth it. This is definitely a mature game so expect plenty of language and gore - but don't let that stop you. GET IT - you won't be disappointed.

Samsung CLP-510 Color Laser Printer
3 of 3 found this helpful This printer gives you alot of bang for the buck. Most of your cheaper laserjets are going to be monochrome but for the price of many of those you can get he CLP-510 (network optional). Not only do you have color printing capability but it's at 1200x1200 dpi where most of the lower end ones are 600x600 dpi. You will find that other printers capable of that resolution are much, much more expensive. Also, you get built-in duplex capability - on the others that's an extra component or upgrade. I went ahead and upgraded my memory from 64mb to the max capable (128) and got a network card for it (all off eBay of course!) and it's all I need. It takes a bit to warm up but once it's ready, the speed seems pretty good on both color and b/w output (way faster than an inkjet) - the text quality is razor sharp. I honestly feel like it looks like stuff I print at work on $$$ units! Photo rendering is pretty good also (the brighter the paper, the better) however, don't expect super high photo quality. I think the resolution needs to be a little higher (but not by much) and I have discovered that the high quality photo paper (laser) is pretty heavy at around 78 lbs. The heaviest paper this printer will handle effectively is 43 lbs according to the manual. So far the best paper I've been able to find to do this with is the soft gloss HP presentation paper at 32 lb. My search continues for a heavier, glossier laser paper I can use on this machine - I have hope that something exists out there. Who knows, it might even exceed the 43 lb manufacturer limit - might go a bit heavier but I have yet to test. I don't think you'll get true photo quality from this laser but I'm still working on it - I've only had this printer for about a month. Don't be dismayed by this though - this thing still prints out excellent quality text, pictures and graphics on regular paper. Even though it worked out well for me, something else I didn't expect was the size of this unit - it's pretty big weighing in at about 90 lbs so make sure you verify your space requirements if you're looking to put one in your study or home office. Aesthetically, it's not that bad either. Generally speaking though, this thing is a winner. If you're like me and sick and tired of dealing with cheap inkjets and want something that's going to be more mechanically reliable in the long run, this is the thing for you. The toner tanks run at about $80 a pop (there are 4 total I think) but from what I have read, they will last a good long while if you're a moderate user like I am. There are also refill kits out there that are substantially cheaper if you're inclined to try it out - I probably will. You can't get a brand new color laser in this guy's price range (I got mine for $200 brand new minus xtra memory and network card) - especially one that has the same capabilities. Not today anyway. TWO THUMBS UP!
