Use your ears
People have mixed reviews about the M Audio line - but I have mixed numerous records on these exact BX8a for over 9 years. No issues.
They have a decent low end for my room and just enough shine on the top to get you thru a mix.
Just make sure to keep the level at half gain on the volume knob because they have been known to have issues if pushed to hard.
Yes yes they could use a little bit of push in the midrange but just like anything else you got to figure out what works for you. Use your ears.
Kids are listening to all the hard work on ear buds anyways.
Who cares ... people mix on cans, laptop speakers etc...
These BX8a are good enough, and with any “speaker” just tune your room or you will struggle to get everything right in the mix.

Decent tube pre with eq/comp
A decent workhorse. Most people would over look if because the brand but it does what it suppose to do. Simple not over the top comp. clean with a master output to adj to taste.
