For those without a background in woodworking it's a wonderful book.
There are multiple source books on the market relative to timber framing/post and beam construction. I would place this book at about a 7.5 comparing it to others due it's rather haphazard organization. For those who have difficulty performing a "construction validity test", that test where you stare at a piece of paper with a weird shaped box drawn on it, flattened out and then select the box in it's completed state out of the 7 pictures provided? If you're a person who can't put that box together in your mind then you might have some problems in putting this books drawings to use with ease. In addition, the authors fail to explain just what types and sizes of hand tools are required, costing $1000 to $1600 (more for authentic tooling), and where they can be obtained. For those with a foundation in construction/woodworking/cabinet making it's easy to understand, and extrapolate what is given in the sheets and partials. In going through the book I got the impression it was compiled with the author figuring whoever picked up this book would have prior construction/woodworking experience. The organization focuses as a story telling of history in timber framing more than anything else. It provides some minimal information regarding lumber, wood grading and curing. For the person looking for an organized set of drawings for a construction project, forget it, you're barking up the wrong tree. The sheets and partials contained are scattered throughout the book. The reader is given basic measurements however, little explanation is given on the why the measurements are what they are. For a person with little or no construction/woodworking experience this could prove frustrating because they will not readily gain a conceptual understanding. I would not recommend this book to a person who has minimal or no experience in woodworking joinery.

Grote: Actual Metal Frame Marker Lights
Grote is one of the very few companies who manufactured "serious" armored marker lights. Easy to install. Replacing the bulb if necessary doesn't take long. The lenses are thick unlike a lot of the current cheaper lights. These lenses don't chip or become etched from road dust. These old style Grote lights are getting harder to find, so look for NOS Grote Lights.

Caiman Welding Gloves for the Safety Minded Welder
Well fitting, supple and very comfortable and surprisingly they are not heavy. The additional leather to the fingers really is a plus in heat shielding. The Elbow length of them, if you do overhead welding you'll appreciate. Considering what you get in these gloves, when you compare them to off the shelf gloves you find in the tool aisles at your "Orange and Blue stores", if you have to order them it's well worth the weight. After all, it's your arms you're protecting from molten metal.
