Sony ICD-R100 digital voice recorder

Older technology that still works very well. Very reliable, currently own five that are used extensively in my work, one is at least eight years old. So far, all those that have failed (three) did so because of physical damage (dropped two floors, doused with coffee, stepped upon); three others were lost or misplaced. Excellent voice recording quality using standard play; quality does decline using long play but not excessively so. Microphone sensitivity allows decent recording from a distance, such as in a room, and still pick up conversation-level voices clearly. Hampered by the non-expandable memory (64 minutes at SP, about three hours at LP). Software usability or compatibility could be a problem. OEM software (ICD_PC Link) is on 3.25-inch disks (like I said - older tech) but downloads are still available at the Sony Web site. Not compatible with my Windows XP so I still download the recorder on my Windows 98SE system and then save to a memory card for transfer to other systems. I buy ICD-R100s whenever possible and will use them until none are available or I lose system support for them. But for the software and compatibility issues, I would have rated it excellent.

Works well, does what is expected of it, used it to pull a car out of a tough spot. Rated it as "good" because that is what it is, functional and reliable. If I needed another, I would get this one without hesitation.

Even smells of butter

Now, this is butter flavor. Either my tastebuds have changed, the Flavacol recipe has changed, or my old supply had deteriorated badly, but the butter flavor of this shipment reaches out and slaps. Good stuff
