Not completely Stainless Steel!
I thought I was buying latches that were advertised as "stainless steel", because they will be used on a boat that is used primarily in salt water.
That is not the case.
The top part of the latch is stainless, but the underside base, the screws, and the catch are plain steel. Those parts are not even coated in any rust inhibiting coatings.
Also, the rivet type hinge pins (which appear to be stainless), are barely pinged over and I feel that they will wear out and fall out or jamb the latch prematurely.
I will have to spray some type of rust preventative on the underside mechanism, and remember to do so repeatedly, over and over.
I hate needless "rework" and built-in obsolescence, and so that's why I was wanting to buy "stainless steel" latches rather than plastic latches.
Because I have the capability, I am replacing the original screws with store bought stainless (size 4m x .7), and will be fabricating my own stainless striker plates for the latches. (I bought 10 of these).
Other than those issues, the latches are the perfect size for my needs

Doesn't fit Johnson!
The ad says it will fit Johnson outboards, but that is NOT the case.
The diameter of the fuel fitting on my 1999 Johnson 9.9hp outboard is smaller than the fitting on this item.
Only reason I didn't rate it lower, is because I have a Mercury outboard that I can use it on, even though I didn't need one for that motor.

Good deal
Cost less than 1 or 2 GoPro's accessories. Very pleased with the quality, price.
