value 4 money
1 of 1 found this helpful hard to find these days, yet the performance it offers rejuvenates my old s775 system... you add an ssd and do not need to spend a fortune for a skylake system. Performs well also for light gaming. Value for money! and one 'click' better than the Q6600.

Value for money
2 of 2 found this helpful Excellent choice that offers performance and reliability that "big names" do at higher prices.
I have worked several Samsung soDimms the past 10+ years and the Samsung only for the past 3-4 years, with Dell Latitude laptops and I am very satisfied with their performance.
Maybe you see a small difference if you start running bench marks vs. the "big names" sodimm ram.
They have quality and reliability as the Samsung ssd's do and it is marketed at the right price..!

A model that will outlast you. Rugged, up-gradable and price honest..!
If you need a "tough" laptop for every day use and not only, this is the best choice in my humble opinion. A new one costs too much from Dell but it is worth every penny since you get very good support and 3 years warranty. Now, if you do not have the money for a new one, the used one is the solution! Thus visit eBay and choose a good cosmetic condition also from a reputable seller. Listed pictures are worth one thousand words each! Zoom in and check every detail from every corner. This specific laptop was in very good condition 9/10 , at a great bargain price (292.00$ - shipping incl'd) and from a courteous and communicative seller. You just can not ask for anything more since you get a spill-resistant keyboard, a 360-degree bumper for added screen protection that can outlast the bumps and spills of everyday work AND a business-rugged laptop that is stylishly armored top to bottom with a hard-wearing MIL-STD 810G tested Tri-Metal™ design, a highly durable anodized aluminum display back, a tough powder-coated base, reinforced steel hinges, a magnesium alloy internal frame and zinc alloy latch. I have had Dell laptops since 1999 (15 years now...) and my experience with all models is : "very satisfied". Never needed support for anything major (hardware parts) One power supply cord(!!!) once "burned" my mobo and Dell chance both at no cost to me. Software I always took care on my own. This model supports 2nd hard disk drive in a caddy and it is placed at the optical drive bay! This model may fall off your hands but you will pick it up and see that your disk drive is intact and the laptop is still working as before the fall..! It supports 2nd 9 cell "slice" battery that gives me autonomy of max. 12 hours of power thus I never carry my charger with me! It is a machine that will last you and if you are in the trend for changing laptops every 1-2 years this is NOT for you ;-) My upgrade for the specific system was and 128gb Samsung 830 series (65$ investment) and it boots in 21 seconds (time is very expensive, so expensive that no one ever had the money to buy it!!!). My next upgrade will be to load up 16gb (!) ram (Dell claims supporting 8gigs but trust me, you can "top it up" with a 64bit O.S.) since I need the ram for specific tasks of my work... More than the need of an i7 processor... That is why I chose the i5 in this case (save money also). So for less than 500$ (292$ + 65$ for the ssd and another 125$ for the ram upgrade), I get a business killer machine. Also has a backlit keyboard and can work at all lighting situations, even in a dark room! Who can ask for anything more. It is worth 110% for every dollar spend in this purchase. Thank you for your time and interest in reading this review. For more details on what the Dell Latitude series is all about, visit the manuf. site. You will find the new 6440 and 6540 models but not at 500$ (SSD and 16gb ram)... You will need at least 1,100$ for the "basic configuration system".
