Go further than 100mm
This lenses is an option that no longer is being sold/produced by canon, and the available lenses is the 100mm macro, which sometimes you would like to go further on magnification of small items or animals. This model is able to push further the macro. Maybe in the future will offer an increased macro range, as it’s going to release the RF 100 macro with 1.4x zoom. Albeit it’s not quite like 180mm and there’s no new EF lenses mount on their roadmap anymore. Therefore, this lenses were a good choice.
