Worth it
It's worth it because a blower is almost essential to move the heat around. I have been using it now for 6 weeks and it is working as I expected. I have it set to auto, so when the heater comes on, the fan will start up when it reaches the set "on" temperature and will run until the heater cools down. Be aware that it has to get quite warm before the fan starts. If it was me, I would have set that "on" temp a little lower. It usually takes about 15 minutes of heating up before it starts. Of course, one can start it manually any time one chooses, just remember to shut if off. I wish that the fan was more powerful but that is just me. It is a good unit. It fits perfectly sitting on the top of the heater. All you need is an outlet or an extension cord for the fan.

Compact design
Got down to 25 degrees F this morning here in Blue Ridge, GA. We have two bird baths set up side by side. One the birds could skate on and the other one they could swim in. Works as advertised and is compact enough to fit comfortably in either one of our bird baths.

Easy
I installed two of these over a year ago. Just purchased more for back up because of the old saying two is one and one is none. Anyway, these were easy enough to install and once that is done, just sit back and let these little babies do their controlling. Automatic and easy to understand as all you have to do is look at the display and you instantly know what is going on. I would say good quality and they have certainly been dependable.
