Dell Precision Workstation 390 upgrade
I installed the Q6700 to replace the 1.86 GHz stock CPU and it runs cooler than the Core 2 Duo E6300 that I removed.

Externally mounted video card.
I was unable to fit my MSI R9 390 video card inside the computer case, so I used the extender to run the video card outside of the case. I am computing for Folding@home on both the MSI R9 390 and an internally mounted Sapphire Toxic R9 270X.

The right processor for my mining rig...great price
1 of 1 found this helpful I needed an Intel 6th or 7th Generation Intel socket LGA 1151 for my mining rig. Since my Asus B250 Mining Expert motherboard does not use Hyper-threading for mining, this 7th Generation i5 was right for me. Additionally, it is only slightly slower than the i7-7700K (not overclocked) and nearly half the price at $200. This computer runs BOINC project Milkyway@home 24/7 under username Vester and is currently 14th most productive.
