A Great Value
1 of 1 found this helpful Sennelier is a premium soft pastel brand. It is a choice of serious artists. This particular set has more colors than your typical "assorted" beginners set. It has two rows of beautiful dark earth tones. I am working with it now and I am very satisfied. The weakness of this set is that 1. It only has one shade of purple, 2. It is short on light colors. However, it is an excellent set to build from. It can be augmented with single sticks of your favorite colors. I am including my first picture with this set. It is a copy of a pastel painting by Jeanne Tangney.

Bigger, Heavier, More Expensive, With Over 20 Pages of Menu Settings
1 of 7 found this helpful I own a Sony DSC-RX100, the first of the line, and I do not see a substantial upgrade in the DSC-RX100IV. The main difference is that the menu has sprouted at least 20 extra pages of non-essential features. As far as I can tell, it is the same lens, but I have to dig deeper to control what ought to be up-front settings like White Balance. As an old-school shooter, I really prefer the simplicity of the older models.
Here is what I like about the new model: The LCD is jointed so that it can be held at an angle, the lens ring seems looser, The DISP menu is comprehensive about settings.
On the other hand, it is bulkier and heavier. It has a built-in optical viewfinder, but I never did figure out how to set the diopter so that I could get a clear picture from it. Also, it is unnecessary.
Both models take wonderful pictures! It is amazing to have a pocket-sized camera that will take excellent shots.

Desirable Batteries
1 of 1 found this helpful They last a LONG time longer than regular batteries, and are a desirable alternative to rechargeable batteries. Make sure you recycle your spent batteries at your local battery store or fire station. They are very toxic in landfills, and the heavy metals they contain could leak into the groundwater.
