Paying with Klarna

You can now pay with Klarna for most items on eBay with a total value of between $35 and $30,000 per order.

Klarna Pay in 4 allows you to split your purchase into four interest-free payments paid every two weeks, and with Klarna Financing, you can take out a simple loan to pay for your purchase.

How to pay with Klarna

If Klarna is available as a payment option, it will be shown at checkout:

  1. Select Klarna as your payment method and select Pay with Klarna. You’ll then be redirected to Klarna.
  2. Log into your Klarna account, or create an account.
  3. Select your payment option (Klarna Financing or Pay in 4).
  4. Add your payment details and confirm the order, and you’ll be redirected to eBay.

Klarna will send you an email confirming your order and notify you when upcoming payments are due. Your selected payment method will be charged on the due date, and any returns will be handled via eBay as a typical return. You can view and manage your payments in your Klarna account and the Klarna app.

Klarna Pay in 4

With Klarna Pay in 4, you can pay for your eBay purchase in four interest-free installments. The first payment is taken at checkout, and the remaining three payments are due every two weeks with no interest or fees when you pay on time.

Klarna will email you about upcoming payments and charge your saved payment method on the due date. You can view and manage your payments in your Klarna account and your purchase and payments will also be reflected on your monthly statement from Klarna.

Klarna Financing

With Klarna Financing, you can take out a loan and repay it in 6, 12, 18 or 24 monthly payments, with interest rates ranging from 7.99% - 35.99%.

To use Klarna Financing, select Klarna as your payment method at checkout and you’ll be redirected to Klarna to make a simple loan application that can be approved in seconds. Klarna will do a soft credit check that won’t affect your credit score, and you’ll see your payment plan showing what you owe and when repayments are due. Once you’ve confirmed your plan with Klarna, you’ll be redirected to eBay’s order confirmation page.

The first payment will be taken from your debit card or bank account one month after your order is processed, and monthly thereafter on the same date. Klarna will email you about upcoming payments and charge your saved payment method on the due date. You can manage your payments in your Klarna account, and your purchase and payments will be on your monthly statement from Klarna.

Monthly financing through Klarna is issued by WebBank. Loans to California residents are made or arranged pursuant to a California Financing Law license.

Tip
For both Pay in 4 and Klarna Financing, if you miss a payment or make a late repayment, you may be charged a late fee, which could impact your credit-worthiness. If you’re unable to make an on-time payment, you can reach out to Klarna.

Returns & refunds

Returns and refunds for Klarna payments for Klarna work the same as when you pay with any other method, such as Paypal or a debit card. If you receive a refund for your eBay purchase (e.g. because you returned an item), Klarna will refund the amount to your bank account and/or adjust your payment plan accordingly. This usually takes 5-7 business days.

Klarna will refund the amount you paid and your payment plan will be canceled. For example, if your purchase value is $100 and you paid $50, Klarna will refund you $50 and won’t require any further payments.

Once a refund has been initiated on eBay, you'll receive an email from Klarna with details of your refund, or changes to your payment plan. For more information on refunds to your bank account or your new payment plan please visit Klarna's website.

Troubleshooting when paying with Klarna

Is the order eligible for Klarna?

Klarna isn't available for all orders on eBay.com, see our section on When can I pay with Klarna. You may need to choose another payment method to complete your purchase, or checkout with one item at a time for multi-item orders.

Have you entered your payment details correctly?

If you want to pay with Klarna, you'll need to enter your payment information during the checkout process. Please make sure you’ve entered your payment details and personal information correctly.

Why am I not approved to pay with Klarna?

There are several reasons why Klarna may not be available to you:

  • Bank details couldn't be verified
  • Identity verification failed
  • A delayed payment from an outstanding Klarna order
  • Klarna soft credit check determined risk
  • You're under 18 years of age

You can find more information about why your order was declined on Klarna's help page.

If your application for Klarna is declined, you’ll be returned to eBay’s checkout to complete your order with a different payment method. Simply change the payment method to continue checking out.

Klarna is available for most items on eBay.com between $35 and $30,000 per order. You must be a US buyer on the ebay.com site, buying an item in the US that’s shipping to a US address.
